In the Greek Church, being extra-conservative and expressly ultra-homophobic is a must for any male wishing fot a career in the church. Very few people have noticed that the late pope was a rather unusually polite and peace-loving person (for a pope). Much fewer may foresee how an extra-conservative pope may stall the advancement of lgbt equal rights in most of Europe and the west. There's much more to say about the Greek church and how dearly their conservatism costs, especially in terms of basic mainstream education about human rights and personal health, or rather the total lack of it...
